Give Me a Gift Card
When a friend is going through a difficult time, giving them money is not the same as buying them a gift. Let’s start with the basics. You have to be pretty pitiful to be envious of a friend who helps a stranger. Despite this, the friend continued to give in to the absurd requests.
It’s a strange mindset to ask for a $50 Uber gift card because they wanted the gift to be special. It is not acceptable to nag your friends into purchasing something for you.
It’s Not a Pity Party
One of the lowest things people still do is guilt a friend into getting you free stuff. When a designer was commissioned to create something for a mutual friend, they included their prices in the request.
The friend, who was clearly not interested in paying more than a few cents, tried to guilt-trip the designer by mentioning their friend’s father’s recent death. When the designer friend refused to sway, he or she was labeled selfish. Isn’t it selfish of you to deny your friend the opportunity to make a living?
