According To Nostradamus, The Future Is Not Looking Too Hot This 2021…

Published on 03/22/2021

There is no way around it. 2020 was simply a bad year. We are sure that most people would prefer not to talk about it in the future for obvious reasons. At the very least, we are now past that awful period in our lives. It can only get better from here… right? We sure hope so. Sadly, Nostradamus does not believe that this is the case. If we are going to believe the famous seer, things might go even further downhill. Do you think that there is any reason for us to be worried? It might help if we take a look at his track record. That is where the answer to this question lies…

According To Nostradamus, The Future Is Not Looking Too Hot This 2021…

They Have Come True

How much should we be worried? There are folks who stand by Nostradamus, saying that many of his predictions have come true. It has been over four centuries since he was alive, but they say that he foretold this pandemic and its aftermath. What did he have to say about what fate has in store for us?

Not All That Specific

Just so we are clear, Nostradamus did not specify that “climate change will be a real problem” or “there will be a global pandemic in 2020.” He only wrote poems that you can interpret in a number of ways. It is even more confusing because he did not really write a couple of predictions that we attribute to him.

His Famous Quatrains

This might have something to do with how he wrote the prophecies. Nostradamus penned them in four lines of verse, also known as “quatrains.” He lived for 63 years and passed away in 1566. Until his death, he spent hours coming up with those poetic predictions. Some of his fans claim that he predicted the French Revolution, as well as the atomic bomb. If this is true, that is quite an accomplishment!

What Is Ahead Of Us

But what did he allegedly think will happen in 2021? Even though 2020 was not the best year, the oracle reportedly believed that 2021 is going to be worse. This does not only have to do with the pandemic or economy. There is a freaky future ahead of us if we are going to believe the ancient Frenchman…

The Man Called Nostradamus

Before we go into that, it is a good idea to learn more about him. Nostradamus was a man of Jewish descent, but his father converted to Catholicism to save himself from the Inquisition. The seer grew up with eight siblings, but the family did not live in poverty as his dad earned a lot of money trading crops.

A Man Of Medicine

Nostradamus went on to become a man of medicine. Back then, Europe was suffering from the plague, which made him do something about it. He traveled around France and Italy, promoting good hygiene and the use of rosehips, which made for a good source of vitamin C. At the time, other doctors relied on more elaborate yet less useful remedies. His method turned out to be more successful!

Even though he had a career in medicine, Nostradamus went into darker areas of inquiry. He became more interested in the occult, which coincided with the beginning of strange behavior. He would spend hours each night in deep meditation. The only companion he had was a container of water with an infusion of various herbs. It put him in a trance, during which he would have his famed “visions.”

He Made An Almanac Of His Own

We are glad that Nostradamus took the time to write those visions down. He relied on them when he made his almanac. The writings were the talk of the town in the middle of the 16th century. They were full of folk wisdom and visions for the following year. People ate it all up when he entered the scene.

For The Next Two Millennia

For a couple of years, he sold those almanacs. He decided that it was time to be more ambitious. This is why he wrote a ten-volume epic with a hundred predictions each. They covered the next two millennia! By 1555, he made Les Prophéties or The Prophecies, which had all of his predictions for the future.

Why He Relied On Poetry

There are theories why he decided to use poetry to hide the prophecies. It is said that he was afraid that the religious authorities would not approve of it. This might be why he used a mix of various languages as well. However, the Church apparently liked him! It has more to do with his celebrity status back then.

How He Saw The Visions

However, how exactly did he come up with all those prophecies in the first place? As we said, he would drink herb infusions that put him in a trance. Aside from this, he said he used astrological calculations to come up with his predictions. The forecasted position of planets and stars helped him look into the future. It is clear that his work alludes to various works by chroniclers and historians. There are people who think that he just recast ancient predictions with the help of stellar calculations! His fellow “professional” astrologers believed that Nostradamus was nothing more than a fraudster in those days.

His Huge Body Of Predictions

Regardless of how he arrived at them, Nostradamus made a name for himself with his large body of predictions. Since then, people from all over the world have tried their hand at figuring what his poems mean. It is not easy since his writing is weird. But how come people think his predictions were accurate?

One Catastrophe After Another

You will find a lot of catastrophes if you read The Prophecies. We all know that the history of mankind is full of that. Nostradamus has vague predictions of plagues, wars, famines, and murders. It is not hard to find something that corresponds with those. There are a few predictions that are spot-on, however. These mostly have to do with revolutions, assassinations, and dictators.

About A Great Man

“From on high, evil will fall on the great man,” Nostradamus once wrote. There are folks who think that he was referring to President John F. Kennedy. They think that he also foretold Lee Harvey Oswald with, “A dead innocent will be accused of the deed.” He said that the real culprit was going to “remain in the mist.” If he was referencing that, it would mean that he was ahead of his time in terms of conspiracy.

King Henry II Of France

There is another quatrain that allegedly foretold the death of King Henry II of France down to a tee. The poem in question claimed that the killer is going to “pierce his eyes through a golden cage.” When you consider that the king died after a lance went through his helmet, it sounds uncanny. However, he predicted that the end was going to arrive “on the field of a combat in a single battle.” There are people who claim otherwise as the accident took place in a jousting competition.

The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki

It is said that Nostradamus predicted the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima during the Second World War as well. He wrote a quatrain that said, “Within two cities there will be scourges the like of which was never seen.” He also talked about a “famine within plague,” as well as “people put out by iron.” You can take this to mean the bombs falling on the Japanese cities. It is possible to take it either way.

The Great Fire Of London

You can be a skeptic or a believer, but we are sure that you would find the prediction about the Great Fire of London intriguing. The quatrain said, “The blood of the just will commit a fault at London, Burnt through lightning of 20 threes the six: The ancient lady will fall from her high place, Several of the same sect will be killed.” If “20 threes the six” equals “66,” it is an incredible coincidence that the fire took place in 1666. It was not caused by lightning but fire, however. Does this make him credible or not?

The 9/11 Tragedy

When it comes to recent tragedies, they say that one of his poems predicted 9/11. The quatrain said, “Two steel birds will fall from the sky on the metropolis.” Still, there are a lot of clues in the text claiming that it is not only not an accurate prediction but also not even one penned by Nostradamus himself. Live Science says that steel had not even been invented until over two centuries after it was allegedly written! There was no way that it was written by the seer himself. It must, therefore, be a hoax.

What 2021 Will Bring Us

At any rate, there are certain prophecies attributed to him that seem to allude to 2021. Modern readers think that these poems are quite dark. For one, The Daily Express talked about this line: “Twice put up and twice cast down, The East will also weaken the West. Its adversary after several battles chased by sea will fail at time of need.” The British newspaper thinks it is a reference to World War III.

A Zombie Apocalypse

It sounds bad enough as it is, but a zombie apocalypse might also take place. A website called Yearly Horoscope said that a poem says a Russian genius will come up with a virus that will cause this. It says, “Few young people: half-dead to give a start. Dead through spite, he will cause the others to shine.”

Half-Human American Robots

They say that it is also possible that the war would be fought by half-human robots from the United States. Yearly Horoscope says that Nostradamus foretold incredible military technology advances in 2021. It said, “The newly made one will lead the army, Almost cut off up to near the bank: Help from the Milanais elite straining, The Duke deprived of his eyes in Milan in an iron cage.” We have no idea what anything has to do with the Italian city, however.

A Famine Might Take Place

If zombies or wars do not end us just yet, perhaps a famine will. The article by Yearly Horoscope said that Nostradamus is of the belief that we would suffer from hunger, epidemic, illness, and earthquake. As we all know, these things already plague us. Its outlook for the year said, “The newly made one will lead the army, Almost cut off up to near the bank: Help from the Milanais elite straining, The Duke deprived of his eyes in Milan in an iron cage.” That does not sound good at all.

A Solar Flare Strike

The Daily Express did not stop at the prediction of a Third World War. The article said that the poems also foretold a solar flare strike on the planet. The poem said, “Condom and Auch and around Mirande, I see fire from the sky which encompasses them. Sun and Mars conjoined in Leo, then at Marmande, Lightning, great hail, a wall falls into the Garonne.”

It Has Happened Before

While solar flares are not impossible, they are definitely not something that happens every single day. In 1859, the planet suffered from the phenomenon in question. Known as the Carrington Event, this led to a geomagnetic tempest that resulted in the cabling of telegraph systems. It went on to light up the skies with auroras. If something like this took place now, it will disrupt power and communication lines.

We Were Lucky Enough To Escape

Can you believe that we got out lucky recently? In 2012, a huge burst of mass was fired off by the Sun and towards the outer atmosphere or corona. It was headed towards us, but it thankfully missed. After all, we are still here! However, a boffin from the University of Colorado by the name of Dr. Daniel Baker talked about how lucky this was. In 2014, he said, “If it had hit, we would still be picking up the pieces.”

Do Not Be Relieved Just Yet

You might not want to let out a sigh of relief just yet. Nostradamus said that if the Sun does not get us, perhaps an asteroid will. Do not forget that the seer once said, “In the heavens fire seen, a long spark running.” People have taken this to mean an impending disaster at the hands of a huge meteorite that will collide with the Earth. We are just glad that NASA does not rely on bowls of herbs to predict what will happen. Internet sleuths have not found any doom-mongering predictions from boffins. Whew!

We Should All Be Careful In November

It sounds like Nostradamus has bad tidings for certain poor souls, however. The problem is that we do not know who will suffer. Some people have taken the verse, “The sloping park, great calamity” to mean that a huge earthquake is going to take place in November. When it comes to the location, no one knows for sure where it will strike. The seer kept it vague by saying, “To be done through Hesperia and Insubria.” To be honest, we can only guess where the disaster in question is going to take place.

Mentioning The Brexit As Well

On the bright side, it is not all just flame and ruin. You might not have thought that Brexit would get involved in this, but the Daily Express thinks otherwise. What did Nostradamus have to say about the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union? “Peace and plenty for a long time the place will praise: Throughout his realm the fleur-de-lis deserted: Bodies dead by water, land one will bring there, Vainly awaiting the good fortune to be buried there,” he said. Uh-oh.

Islam Will Dominate The World

The United Kingdom is no longer a part of the E.U. It might not make much of a difference in the future. Yearly Horoscope also said that Nostradamus wrote about how the Muslim faith would take over Europe and the rest of the world. Even though this would allegedly take “decades,” the website said that the beginning of the shift is going to become clear in 2021. The quatrain in question said, “Because of French discord and negligence, An opening shall be given to the Mohammedans. The land and sea of Siena will be soaked in blood, And the port of Marseilles covered with ships and sails.”

The Catholic Church Resurgence

With so many troubles ahead of us, it is not all that surprising to hear that he also foretold a resurgence of the Catholic religion. If you believe The Whistleblower on Facebook, it is going to be spearheaded by Pope Francis. In 2020, the social media account said that the seer claimed that the religious leader will give the Church a “lifeboat” for the people who will be affected by the famine, war, and solar flares.

Several Thousand Predictions

Overall, Nostradamus came up with over 6,000 predictions. A couple of people think that a lot of them have already come true. It is a good thing that his writings go all the way to 3797, so we have a ton more to enjoy. In fact, it might even be a source of comfort to think that the world would still be around so far into the future. Of course, other people have stayed skeptical about his visions and alleged ability to predict the future. They think that the gullible only convince themselves by fitting the facts to his poems.

There Are Also Doubters

Brian Dunning of Skeptoid is among the doubters. He even went as far as to tell the Daily Express that none of the predictions have come true: “Michel de Nostredame was truly one of the brilliant lights of his day, but to subscribe to false stories and urban legends is to disrespect who the man actually was.”

His Other Works

Dunning does not completely discount the life’s work of the alleged seer. He has given praise to the more concrete aspects of it. “Appreciate his contributions to medicine and Renaissance literature, and don’t trivialize his good works in favor of a pretended history of paranormal magical powers,” he said. However, the enduring popularity of the prophet only goes to show that people like to hear prophecies.

Things Look Good For The UK

The Daily Express itself gave evidence for this when they spoke to a medium by the name of Craig Hamilton-Parker. He gave his opinions on what the future had in store for us in 2021. They did not really match Nostradamus when it comes to his predictions. Instead, he said, “Britain will become a world leader in quantum computing and artificial intelligence.” He went on to say that there are free trade zones to draw in tech companies and big pharma into the pipeline. The future seems good for the U.K.

According To A Pastor

Pastor Paul Begley, an American psychic, had more alarming things to say. In October 2020, he said that the end is near. The preacher from Indiana saw things that reminded him of the Book of Isaiah that said, “The earth will be completely laid to waste and totally plundered. The Lord has spoken this word.”

Begley came up with this image of destruction for his fans on YouTube. Over there, he has more than 300,000 subscribers. The “popularity,” if you can call it that, of his message has landed him TV appearances every week. He would then talk about the upcoming apocalypse in front of the cameras. The medium does not make a close reading of the French seer but looks at the Bible for his predictions.

The End Days

For one thing, he has referenced the second book of Peter. It mentions fire enveloping the world during the End Days. This is seconded by the Book of Revelation, which says, “And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.” No matter what happens, we are in for an interesting year!

The End Of The World In 2012

Just so you know, Christian prophets do not have a monopoly on predictions about the end of the world. Do you remember when the Mayans allegedly predicted that the end would come for us in 2012? At the time, it was a huge deal. The BBC said that ten percent of survey respondents expressed worries that the apocalypse was upon us. It even made its way to Hollywood! A couple of years before the year rolled in, a movie called 2012 came out. It goes without saying that this prediction did not come true.

It Is Not An Easy Topic

By now, it should be clear to all of you that prophecy is not an easy thing to talk about. Nostradamus wrote his thoughts on the matter in a letter to Cesar, his son. He said, “A prophet is properly speaking one, who sees distant things through a natural knowledge of all creatures. And it can happen that the prophet bringing about the perfect light of prophecy may make manifest things both human and divine.” We just hope that he was completely wrong about what will happen in 2021.
