MTV premiered the reality series 16 and Pregnant in 2009. Teen Mom and its sequels, Young and Pregnant, and 16 and Recovering, are among the show’s many spin-offs since then. Several teenage moms have dealt with the difficult journey of pregnancy, birth, and new motherhood on these shows. In 2010, Kailyn Lowry gave birth to a son named Isaac, but she did not live with his father, Jo Rivera. Kailyn fell in love with and married Javi Marroquin when she first appeared on Teen Mom 2. In 2013, the couple welcomed their son Lincoln, but their marriage ended in 2016. In 2017, Kailyn graduated from college and welcomed her third child, Lux, with her longtime friend Chris Lopez. In the year 2020, they welcomed another child, a son named Creed.

Here’s one of the Teen Mom franchise’s most infamous cast members! Amber Portwood, like so many others on this list, began her career on 16 and Pregnant before landing the role of Teen Mom. In 2008, the teen married Gary Shirley and gave birth to a daughter named Leah.

Brianna DeJesus, a native of Orlando, first appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2012. Briana gave birth to baby Nova Star while pregnant by her ex-boyfriend Devoin. Unfortunately, Devoin refused to contribute emotionally or financially, and the couple eventually divorced.

Cheyenne Floyd had already appeared on several MTV reality shows before joining Teen Mom. The 24-year-old gave birth to her daughter Ryder in 2017, so she isn’t technically a teen mom. Cory Wharton, Floyd and Ryder’s father, soon discovered that their daughter had a rare metabolic disorder.

Cheyenne announced her second pregnancy in 2020, this time with boyfriend Zach Davis. In 2021, the couple got engaged, and the following month, Ace Terrell was born. Adorable!

We see the young moms on 16 and Pregnant struggle with adoption on occasion. Some are coerced into it by their parents, while others are aware that it is an option available to them. Ashley Salazar intended to attend college and pursue a career as a photojournalist, but she became pregnant at the age of 17 by her ex-boyfriend.

Ashley eventually makes the difficult decision to give her daughter, Callie, to her aunt and uncle to raise. Ashley has since given birth to another son, Phoenix Roy, with the same father. She’s now a Christian influencer.

We have a newcomer to the franchise in this case. Jade Cline first appeared on Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant before being cast in Teen Mom 2 in 2019. Cline is quite young in comparison to some of her co-stars. Kloie Kenna, her daughter, was born in 2017.

Catelynn Lowell and her boyfriend Tyler Baltierra decided to give their child up for adoption in 2009. The couple then appeared on the spin-off Teen Mom, and in 2014, they welcomed daughter Novalee together. In the same year, the couple married in front of other MTV celebrities.

While many of the stories on this list contain dark elements, this one is especially difficult. Valerie Fairman first appeared on 16 and Pregnant when she was 15 years old in 2010. On the show, she welcomed her daughter Neveah, but her parents eventually gained custody of her.

Chelsea Houska has been a fixture on our television screens for quite some time. With her daughter Aubree Skye and her boyfriend Adam, the young mom made an appearance on Teen Mom 2. Viewers watched as she worked toward her GED and later became embroiled in a custody dispute.

MTV decided to launch Teen Mom 3 in 2013, which followed the lives of four girls ranging in age from 16 to Pregnant. Katie Yeager, who gave birth to her daughter Molli in 2011, was one of those girls. Katie and her boyfriend Joey struggle with their relationship on the show.

Kiaya Elliot joined the cast of Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant in 2019, after the show premiered in 2018. When her girlfriend cheated on her, the Virginia native became pregnant. Her girlfriend later moved in and assisted in the raising of Kiaya’s son Amour, whom she had with X’Zayveon.

Kiaya Elliott, despite being a new cast member, has had her share of drama. The teen revealed on Instagram in 2021 that her son’s father is currently incarcerated and will not be released until 2022. Kiaya has also been taken into custody.

Megan McConnell, 16, did everything she could for her unborn child when she became pregnant by a video game-obsessed 19-year-old. Megan welcomed her first child, Blake, and struggled with her immature boyfriend, Nathan, as viewers watched.

Megan and Nathan did marry in 2011, but it was short-lived. The couple filed for divorce before the end of the year, which was probably a good idea! Megan had a second son, Silas, in 2015 with boyfriend Chase, and then a daughter, Felicity, in 2019.

After that, we’re in for a wild ride. Lori Wickelhaus was only 17 years old when she became pregnant with Cory, her ex-boyfriend. The Kentucky native was adopted as a child and debated whether or not to place her child for adoption. She eventually placed Aidan for open adoption.

Maci Bookout, a teen mother, is another big name from the franchise. Maci made her MTV debut at the age of 16 with her then-boyfriend Ryan. Ryan, like many of the fathers on these shows, was not particularly proactive or interested in his new family.

Our next entry was only a part of the Teen Mom franchise for a short time and had previously appeared on other reality shows. Bristol Palin joined the cast in 2018 to fill the void left by Farrah Abraham’s departure.

The cast of Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant is back. Brianna Jaramillo prepared for and eventually gave birth to her son Braeson Messiah in 2018. Brianna was the first season’s youngest mother, and she struggled to find an apartment.

She also dealt with Danae, her son’s father, and pondered whether they should be together. Later on, we see the young mother in a new relationship with Ryan Reams, but the two eventually break up. Brianna is a frequent user of social media.

Leah Messer was 17 years old and pregnant with twins when we first met her. The young mother and her boyfriend Corey faced the premature birth of their daughters on 16 and Pregnant. The couple had only been dating for a month before becoming pregnant.

Leah and Corey broke up after she cheated on the show. They eventually reconciled and married in 2010. They divorced the following year after yet more cheating. Leah has been married and divorced twice since then, and she has another daughter, Adalynn.

Farrah Abraham is by far the most well-known member of the Teen Mom franchise. Farrah, 17, decides not to tell her ex-boyfriend that she’s pregnant in the second episode of 16 and Pregnant. Derek Underwood is killed in a car accident later on.

Farrah has gone on to become a reality TV star and has appeared on a number of shows since her first appearance. She is one of nine women who have accused Dominic Foppoli of inappropriate behavior in recent months.

Kayla Jordan, a 17-year-old Alabama teen, and her boyfriend, J.R. Davis, were followed by viewers in 2010. Davis proposes to his young girlfriend on the show, much to the delight of their respective parents. Ryan is the couple’s first child.

Nikkole Paulun, who was 15 at the time, was one of the youngest teens to appear on 16 and Pregnant. The Michigan native was expecting a child with her cheating boyfriend Josh Drummonds, who is one of the show’s worst fathers. Lyle, the couple’s son, was born in 2009.

Felicia Cooke, a Texan, was another teen mom with a bad boyfriend. Alex Gutierrez, her 17-year-old boyfriend, and his mother were causing her problems. She also aspired to be the first in her family to complete high school. Genesis Alexa was born to the couple in 2010.

Hope Harbert and her boyfriend, Ben Lagle, were featured in some of the most emotional episodes of 16 and Pregnant. Lagle struggled with becoming a young father after learning that his young girlfriend was pregnant. The two parents split up for a short time before reuniting in 2012.

The second season of 16 and Pregnant followed teen mom Lizzie Waller as she tried to balance her new parental responsibilities with her relationship with Skylar Sickles. Fans chastised the Virginia teen for forgiving Sickles for his unfaithful behavior, so Waller chose to withdraw from public view.

The cheerleader and her boyfriend, Kyler Lopez, were followed as they became first-time parents in the series.
