The griffins were traditionally represented, besides the eagle’s head, wings, and talons, by a lion’s body, tail, and hind legs. The phoenix is a legendary eagle species recognized only as the juvenile phoenix to rise from ashes, known colloquially for exploding into a fire at the end of its existence. The Phoenix was synonymous with sun worship in ancient Egyptian and classical myths and was depicted as a huge bird with golden and red plumage that could live for hundreds of years.
